Last year, the Foundation launched the Kaiāulu Fund, its first grant program focused on advancing community health & resilience and social justice & energy equity. A Kaiāulu Advisory Council made up of local stakeholders played a key role in selecting three community-based organization grantees: Vibrant Hawaiʻi – a youth resilience academy, Mālama Kauaʻi — Strengthening Kaua‘i’s Local Food System, and Hawaiian Council — Mauli Ea program (formally Kalāhiki Initiative), an energy and resilience program.

The AES Hawaiʻi Foundation is partnering with the City and County of Honolulu on one of its most significant place-based investments to date: a pledge for improvements to the Kahuku District Park. This public-private partnership reflects the Foundation’s long-term commitment to the Kahuku and Koʻolauloa communities. The shared vision for a modern, inclusive recreation and gathering space is shaped directly by community input, and is designed to create safe spaces for physical activity, youth programming, and community events.
